Walking and cycling 

In Hartford, we have wonderful green spaces in and around our village. Marshall’s Arm nature reserve is particularly popular. 

Hartford Civic Society has a list of local walks, and organises walks in the village and further afield

Hartford Cycle Hub organises bike rides in and around the local area, including family rides, leisure rides and off-road rides.

Trains

Hartford train station has direct services to Acton Bridge, Runcorn, Liverpool South Parkway and Liverpool Lime Street in one direction, plus Winsford, Crewe, Stafford, Wolverhampton, Birmingham New Street and other destinations in the other direction.

Nearby, Greenbank Train Station has services which call at Chester, Delamere and other stations in one direction, and Northwich, Knutsford, Altrincham, Stockport, Manchester Piccadilly and other destinations in the other direction.

Hartford Station is around one mile from Greenbank station. It takes around 20 to 30 minutes to walk, or you can take the number 82 bus (see below).

Buses

Hartford has a number of public bus services.

  • The number 82 bus runs between Chester and Northwich. Bus stops are located along Chester Road
  • The number 49 circular bus runs between Northwich, Weaverham and Rudheath. Bus stops are located along Northwich Road and Beach Road
  • The number 48 bus runs between Frodsham and Northwich. Bus stops are located along Northwich Road and Beach Road

There is a free college bus for students going from Hartford to the Warrington campus of Warrington & Vale Royal College. There is no college bus to the Winsford campus, but students can access a free D&G bus pass. Find out more about transport to Warrington & Vale Royal College.
