Community events
Hartford Parish Council runs several community events each year. We also support other groups in the village to run their own community events. Take a look at the support we can offer.
Hartford Parish Council runs several community events each year. All of our events are free-of-charge to visitors, and are about coming together for fun and friendship. Our events include:
- Picnic in the Park – an outdoor festival held on Grange Park in July, with funfair stalls, crafts, sports, and entertainment
- Christmas Light Up – our tree-lighting event, with carol singing and free refreshments, plus Santa!
As well as these events, we also support a number of charities and community groups to run their own events for the village. This includes:
- Coffee and Chat: Free weekly event at the Pavilion on The Green on Thursday mornings. Come along for a cuppa and good company
- Let’s Play: Free monthly outdoor play event for children and their families. Join the fun on The Green Field. Enjoy giant Jenga, hula hoops, watercolour paints, chess and more
- Daytime Discos: Dance to hits from the 60s to the Noughties at the Village Hall with DJ Steve, and get to know new people. Entry is £5. Tea and coffee are free. Bring any other refreshments for yourself
- Art club for 11 – 16s. Get creative and make new friends at this art club. Try water colours, clay-modelling and more. Let your ideas flow! Hartford NSPCC event.
- Craft for Kids: Run by Hartford NSPCC, this fun session is for children and their families. It takes place every school holiday and is about trying out new arts and crafts
- Christmas Fayre: Organised by members of the community, this event includes craft and trade stalls, entertainment and the opportunity to meet Santa in his Grotto.
Looking for support for your event?
At Hartford Parish Council, we are keen to support more events that help to spread happiness and fun in the village. If your event meets the criteria for a Hartford Parish Council supported community event, we could offer, for example:
- Free venue rental, such as the Village Hall or the Pavilion as indoor venues, or the Green field or Bradburns Lane park as outdoor venues
- a contribution towards items required for the event.
In the first instance, please contact us for a discussion about your plans.
Promoting your events free-of-charge
Would you like to promote your event to residents via Hartford News magazine? If so, please contact news@hartfordparishcouncil.org.uk and provide details of your event. We may also be able to include A4 or smaller event posters on our village noticeboards. Please contact us about this.
Running a street party
Street parties are a fantastic way to bring neighbours together for fun and friendship. If you want to hold a street party, you must apply to Cheshire West and Chester Council at least eight weeks prior to your event. Cheshire West and Chester Council will then advise what action you need to take.
